REAP REAP

Terms

Send things you have the right to send. Don't use this to hurt anybody. Everything below is the same idea with more detail.

What this is

REAP moves files. The drop pages at getreap.io let someone with a code and PIN send a file, or collect one that was sent to them. You get a signed receipt that proves what was sent and that it arrived unchanged.

How long we keep your file

Once collected, a file is deleted within 24 hours. If nobody collects it, it's deleted after 48 hours. This happens automatically, whether or not anyone asks.

Treat the drop as a courier, not storage. If a file matters, keep your own copy. We can't get it back for you once it's gone.

What we can see

Your file is encrypted in your browser before it's uploaded, using a key made from your PIN. We never receive that PIN or that key, so what sits on our server is a blob we can't open. The person you sent it to unlocks it in their browser with the same PIN.

One honest caveat. Because the key comes from the PIN, your file is exactly as private as the PIN is hard to guess. A short numeric PIN could be worked out by someone determined enough with access to our server. A long one couldn't. That's why the codes we issue come with real passphrases rather than four digits.

We do keep a record of which code was used, when, how big the file was, and its fingerprint. That's what makes the receipt work, and it's all we have.

What you agree not to do

Don't use REAP to send:

  • anything you don't have the right to share
  • anything illegal where you are, or where the recipient is
  • malware, or anything built to damage someone's machine
  • material that sexualizes children, which we report every single time
  • anything meant to harass, threaten, or defraud somebody

If we're told a drop breaks these rules, we'll delete it. We may also stop issuing codes to whoever sent it.

If something is wrong, tell us

If someone sent you a file they shouldn't have, or you think a code is being misused, email abuse@getreap.io with the code and roughly when it happened. Do it quickly. Files are gone in 48 hours and we can't look at what no longer exists.

No promises about uptime

REAP is provided as-is. We try to keep it up, but we don't promise it will be, and we're not liable if it isn't. The receipt proves what happened. It isn't insurance.

Changes

If these change, so does the date at the top. Nothing new applies backwards to a file you already sent.
